Update: WordPress has been seen to have the requisite UI links to let me peruse a blog without ever having to think about what bloody 'archive' I need to go into next. So I'm going to be over there, and will relaunch the whinings.
Could the whole edit vs. publish UI in Blogger suck any harder? Why can't I publish from the "Edit posts" view? Why can I only publish from the "Create" or "Edit post details" view? Argh! The UI developers seem to think that the workflow they understand is exactly the workflow everybody else will understand, and enjoy - or else. Which means I should be looking for a blogging system that doesn't actually suck ass in ways that are blatantly obvious to me within the first half our of using the system for the first time. Anybody got any reviews on e.g.: Movable Type, or whatever?
I'm annoyed that the Blogger UI's I've seen require you to go into the Archived posts, rather than letting you just "previous" your way through all of time. Don't Make Me Think. If I'm having fun reading somebody's blog, I shouldn't be pulled out of my reading flow to have to figure out "uh, OK, what archive do I need to choose to get the next post in the relevant chronological order?" This is precisely the kind of thing that makes me utterly hate everything and everybody. People suck because they make UIs that suck. Other people suck because they are too much of dumb bastards to realize that the UI sucks and shouldn't be used. But, like all those jerks who buy SUVs, they get attracted by the shiny things and don't bother to worry over the issues that actually matter. (Looking at TypePad, it sucks in the same way.)
